Le Gîte d'étape
Le Gîte d'étape derives its name from the French countryside where lodging is provided to walkers at various places along pilgrimage routes.
Our "Gîte d'étape" is a beautiful, new cottage in the most scenic and rural part of Salt Spring Island. The "gite" as we fondly call it, is located in Beaver Point, right next to Ruckle Provincial Park, one of the most remarkable waterfront parks in British Columbia. Beaches and trails are minutes away by foot. Two local swimming lakes are also nearby.
The cottage is newly built, but with cottage charm. There are two bedrooms, a loft, a full kitchen, bath, dining and living rooms. There are two covered decks, one
for morning sun and the other collecting the setting sun.Our "resting place" has pastoral views of sheep pasture, snake rail fences and majestic Douglas fir trees.
Interior features include stained glass windows, in-floor heating, Vermont Castings wood stove, antiques and comfortable bedding. There is even an outdoor shower (as well as indoor bath/shower) to enjoy on a summer day!
If you enjoy walking, biking, exploring beaches and trails, then Le Gîte d'étape is for you. If you like to be away from it all, then this is the place. We are a short drive from the Fulford Ferry terminal and recommend travel through Swartz Bay.
